Celebrating Success at Abbott’s National Sales Meeting
I was recently on-site photographing Abbott’s National Sales Meeting held at the Dallas Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano, Texas.
One thing I’ve learned about corporate event photography like this is how quickly the most meaningful moments happen. An award announcement, a leadership recognition, or a quick exchange between colleagues can unfold in seconds. When those moments pass, they’re gone.
That’s why preparation matters more than people realize. One of the most helpful things an event team can do is share the run of show or schedule ahead of time. Knowing the flow of the evening allows the photographer to anticipate key announcements, leadership moments, and awards instead of reacting to them.
After that, it’s about staying present in the room and reading the energy.
Abbott’s team had people traveling in from across the country, and you could immediately sense the excitement as colleagues spotted each other and introduced themselves. Many of them had worked together for months or years without ever meeting in person.
The ballroom was filled with hundreds of attendees, and the evening centered around recognizing teams and individuals who had made an impact over the past year. Leaders took the stage to present awards and share updates, and what stood out most was how genuinely excited people were for one another. When someone’s name was called, the reaction from their peers said a lot about the culture inside the organization.
Moments like these in corporate event photography are always enjoyable to capture because the reactions are real. Sometimes it’s the look of surprise when someone hears their name announced. Other times it’s the handshake on stage or the pride from teammates watching someone they respect receive recognition.
